Private online sessions with a tutor who has sat the HPAT and scored at the top end. No fixed syllabus to sit through — every session is planned around the section that's actually costing you marks, at times that fit your own timetable.
Tell us where you're stuck and we'll come back with availability and a plan. No payment needed yet.
We'll be in touch shortly with tutor availability and next steps.
Most students preparing for the HPAT already know roughly where they're losing marks — they just don't know what to do about it. A course has to move at the group's pace and cover everything, which means time spent on question types you can already do. One-to-one grinds invert that: your tutor looks at your practice results, finds the specific step where your reasoning breaks down, and spends the session on that. If non-verbal reasoning is dragging your score and Section 1 is solid, you never have to sit through Section 1 again. It's also the fastest option when the exam is close, because there's no course schedule to fit into — sessions start when you're ready and go at your pace.
An hour of live problem solving on video, planned before you arrive and followed up after you leave.
Planned in advance around you. Your tutor looks at what you got wrong last time and builds the session around it, rather than opening a generic paper and starting at question one.
You work, the tutor watches. A lot of the value is in your tutor seeing how you attack a question — the misreads and detours only show up when you're the one solving it.
Live annotation on a shared screen. Real HPAT-style questions are worked through on screen with the reasoning marked up step by step, so you see the method rather than just the correct letter.
Honest feedback. If your approach is slow but workable, you'll be told. If it's going to fall apart under exam timing, you'll be told that too.
Targeted practice afterwards. You finish with specific questions to work on before the next session, chosen to drill the exact thing you just fixed.
Progress checked under time. Technique is only worth marks if it survives the clock, so sessions move to timed conditions as you improve.
The same curated study materials, worked examples and presentations that come with our courses — plus a free consultation call before you book anything, so we can agree a realistic plan for your test date. If it turns out a group course would serve you better, we'll say so.
Sessions can go deep on the one section holding your score back, or work across the whole exam if you're starting from scratch.
Usually a timing problem before it's a reasoning problem. Sessions focus on reading the stimulus efficiently and committing to an answer instead of second-guessing.
The section where students plateau because their instinct keeps overriding the method. We work on answering as the exam expects, consistently.
The most trainable section, and the fastest place to add marks in a short run-up. We drill the recurring pattern families until you spot them instantly.
Priced per session, with resources included. Nothing is charged until we've agreed a plan on a free consultation call.
A private session planned around your weakest areas, with practice set for afterwards. Book as many or as few as you need.
Curated HPAT materials, worked examples and presentations to revise between sessions — included at no extra cost.
Add the structure of a full term course through all three sections, and keep one-to-one sessions for the areas you want to push hardest.
Both cover the same exam. The difference is how the time is spent — and how much of it is spent on you.

From your first enquiry to exam day, we're with you every step of the way.
Send us the section you're struggling with and when you're sitting the exam. We'll come back with tutor availability and times that suit you.
We assess your starting point, agree how many sessions actually make sense for your timeline, and build a plan before anything is booked.
Each session targets a specific weakness and ends with practice to drill it. Progress is reviewed under timed conditions as your test date approaches.
I'm a third-year medicine student at the University of Galway and one of the tutors here at HPATHelp. I sat the HPAT in 2024 and scored in the 95th percentile — so I know exactly what it takes to perform at the top level on exam day.
One-to-one is where I can be most useful. In a single session I can usually see the exact habit that's costing you marks — rereading a stimulus three times, talking yourself out of a correct answer, or a method that works fine untimed and collapses under the clock. Those are hard to spot on your own and quick to fix once someone names them.
Whether you're just starting out or trying to push your score over the line, we'll work on exactly what you need — not a one-size-fits-all programme.
Feedback from students and parents who worked with a tutor directly.
"Brian was my son's tutor and his improvement was remarkable. He was particularly struggling with sections one and three and Brian's guidance and notes were instrumental in his success. I highly recommend him. The experience was entirely positive and hassle-free."
"I can't say enough good things about HPATHelp! From the moment we started working together, my tutor was so friendly, professional and easy to get along with. Everything was done to a very high standard. It's not often you find someone this reliable and so passionate about their work!"
The questions we're asked most often about private tuition.
Sessions start from €60, with study resources included. There's nothing to pay when you enquire — we agree the plan and the price on a free consultation call before any session is booked.
All sessions are online by video call with a shared screen, so your tutor can annotate questions live as they explain the reasoning. There's no travel involved, and students anywhere in Ireland — or in London and the rest of the UK — can book the same sessions.
It depends on how far away your test date is and how much ground you need to make up. Some students book a handful of sessions on a single weak section; others run regular sessions over several months. We'll give you an honest recommendation on the consultation call rather than pushing a fixed package.
Yes — that's the main reason students choose one-to-one over a course. If non-verbal reasoning is costing you marks and logical reasoning is fine, every session can go on non-verbal reasoning until it isn't the problem any more.
Sessions are booked around your timetable rather than a fixed weekly class slot, which is why one-to-one suits students juggling school, mocks or work. Tell us the days and times that work for you when you enquire.
Yes, and plenty of students do. The group course gives you structure and full coverage of all three sections, while one-to-one sessions go deep on whatever is still holding your score back.
Probably not, but it changes what's worth doing. With a short run-up we'd concentrate on the most trainable material and on exam timing, rather than trying to rebuild technique across all three sections. Tell us your test date and we'll be straight with you about what's realistic.
Tell us the section that's holding you back and when you're sitting the HPAT, and we'll put together a plan that fits the time you have. Free consultation call included.
